The Hen of the Woods mushroom commonly grows in clusters at the bases of hardwood trees such as elms, oaks and maples. This mushroom is known by various other names, including "sheep's head" and "ram's head". In Japanese, it is known as "maitake," translating to "dancing mushroom." This mushroom is prevalent throughout Japan, China and northeastern North America. In clinical studies, this mushroom is gaining a prominent position in medical circles due to the myriad positive health benefits observed by researchers. Multiple clinical trials have connected Hen of the Woods to improvements in overall immunity, diabetes and cholesterol management and possible reversal of tumor growth in humans.

*This syringe will come with a clear/white syringe cap, indicating that this mushroom species grows in hardwood substrate. This mushroom will thrive on our FOREST GOLD GROW BLOCK or FOREST GOLD HARDWOOD SUBSTRATE.

*Please note that our grow block is an all-in-one kit, (requiring only a live liquid mycelium culture), whereas our substrate will require you to create a separate colonized grain spawn first. • Use BLACK GOLD GROW BLOCK or BLACK GOLD SUBSTRATE for all black-tipped syringes. All “BLACK GOLD” products are designed for compost and dung-loving mushroom varieties. “BLACK GOLD” products will come in black packaging and will be clearly labeled for use with black-tipped syringe specimens.

• Use FOREST GOLD GROW BLOCK or FOREST GOLD HARDWOOD SUBSTRATE for all clear/white-tipped syringes. All “FOREST GOLD” products are designed for hardwood-loving mushroom varieties. “FOREST GOLD” products will come in white packaging and will be clearly labeled for use with clear/white-tipped syringe specimens.
